…..THE CENTER OF ISAAC IS MOVING BETWEEN THE NORTH COAST OF CUBA
AND ANDROS ISLAND…
A HURRICANE WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR THE ISLAND OF ANDROS.
A HURRICANE WARNING MEANS THAT HURRICANE
EXPECTED WITHIN THE WATCH AREA WITHIN 36 HOURS.
TROPICAL STORM WARNINGS REMAIN IN EFFECT FOR THE REMAINING
ISLANDS OF THE BAHAMAS AND THE TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS.
A TROPICAL STORM WARNING MEANS THAT TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS
ARE EXPECTED WITHIN THE WARNING AREAS WITHIN 36 HOURS.
AT 2AM EDT THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM ISAAC WAS LOCATED NEAR
LATITUDE 22.9 DEGREES NORTH AND LONGITUDE 78.0 DEGREES WEST OR
ABOUT 70 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF MARS BAY ANDROS, 144 MILES
WEST-SOUTHWEST OF GEORGETOWN EXUMA, 145 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHWEST
OF NASSAU, 178 MILES WEST-NORTHWEST OF DUNCAN TOWN RAGGED
ISLAND AND 185 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF SOUTH BIMINI.
ISAAC IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHWEST NEAR 17 MILES PER HOUR
AND THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE DURING THE NEXT
48 HOURS. ON THE FORECAST TRACK…THE CENTER OF ISAAC SHOULD
MOVE JUST NORTH OF THE CENTRAL COAST OF CUBA OVERNIGHT, JUST
SOUTHWEST OF ANDROS EARLY SUNDAY MORNING AND MOVE NEAR OR
OVER THE FLORIDA KEYS SUNDAY OR SUNDAY NIGHT.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS REMAIN NEAR 60 MILES PER HOUR WITH
HIGHER GUSTS. STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS
AND ISAAC IS EXPECTED TO BE AT OR NEAR HURRICANE STRENGTH WHEN IT
REACHES THE FLORIDA KEYS.
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 205 MILES FROM
THE CENTER.
LOCALIZED FLOODING CAN BE EXPECTED IN ALL OF THE ISLANDS IN THE
WARNING AREAS, AS RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 3 TO 5 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE
OVER THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN BAHAMAS.
UNLESS THERE IS A CHANGE IN MOTION, RESIDENTS IN THE CENTRAL
BAHAMAS SHOULD BE EXPERIENCING TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS
UNTIL LATE SUNDAY MORNING. RESIDENTS IN THE ISLAND OF ANDROS
SHOULD HAVE COMPLETED PREPARATION FOR THE PASSAGE OF TROPICAL
STORM ISAAC AS TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS WILL PERSIST UNTIL LATE
AFTERNOON SUNDAY. ELSEWHERE, RESIDENTS SHOULD CONTINUE TO
CLOSELY MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF ISAAC IN THE EVENT OF ANY SHIFT IN
THE STORM’S TRACK AND INTENSITY.
SMALL CRAFT OPERATORS IN THE WARNING AREAS SHOULD REMAIN IN PORT
AND ENSURE THAT THEIR VESSELS ARE SAFELY MOORED.
